BIOL 215 Phytopathology

Plant diseases cause economic losses that exceed billions of dollars annually. This course is designed to introduce you to fundamental aspects underlying the biology of plant diseases caused by infectious organisms. In this course, we will discuss the concept of plant disease and its causal agents, the mechanisms employed by plant pathogens to colonize the host, the methods utilized by the plant to defend itself against pathogen attack, and the societal cost of plant diseases.
