ARB 111 Intermediate Arabic I

This course will provide students with the fundamentals of the Arabic language. The course will rely heavily on audio-lingual methods of language acquisition and will stress comprehension, pronunciation, and the development of reading skills. Development of communication skills and cultural awareness are articulated through textual and visual materials, including films. Grammar is presented in context. Development of communication skills in Arabic is emphasized in both oral and writing activities. A central focus is on cultural aspects of the language through authentic materials. Students learn how to communicate effectively and appropriately in Arabic while also satisfying their intellectual curiosity about civilization and culture in their current as well as historical dimensions.
