How would you characterize the culture of the engineering discipline? How true are the stereotypes people hold about engineers? Is there a singular “engineering culture” or are there many variations? What cultural elements contribute to persistent inequalities in engineering? We will grapple with these questions and more in this class as we seek to understand the various branches of engineering culture and identity, and how this discipline has changed over time.
