ENG 281 Beyond Black Literature

This course deepens students’ grasp of Black literature and the cultural forces shaping Black life, culture, and politics. Through literary and interdisciplinary methods, this course explores an element of Black cultural production that is adjacent to literature, providing meaningful social, historical, and political context. Students will examine the connections between Black literature and another form of expression, such as print, the archive, music, or translation.
