IA 270 Migration and Food
Food is a complex topic that connects with power structures, race, ethnicity, and multiculturalism in environments where communities from all over the world live together and interact. This course uses food a unique lens to examine the complex realities of migration, focusing on how food can facilitate cultural exchange, but can also create exclusion and xenophobia. We will analyze the intertwined social dynamics of food and the cultural identities of migrants historically and presently.
