2025-2026 Catalog

ME 381 Mechanical Vibrations

This course focuses on the modeling, analysis, and measurement of vibrating mechanical systems. We will cover lumped-parameter modeling of mechanical systems and structures; prediction of free and forced vibration response using analytical and numerical methods; vibration suppression technologies; basic vibration data acquisition and signal processing techniques; and how to estimate model parameters from measured data. The course particularly emphasizes the use of computers to understand and simulate the behavior of vibrating systems. Students may not receive credit for both CE 314 and ME 381.
