MUS 110 Introduction to Music Theory
This course is an introduction to basic music theory and musicianship, including notation, keys, rhythm, meter, scales, intervals, chords, melody, phrasing, harmonic progressions, and analysis. Assignments include exercises, music analysis, listening, composition, and aural skills. Repertoire is drawn from classical, jazz, popular, and various world musics. The course assumes neither previous formal music training nor the ability to read music.
