BIOL 212 Developmental Biology

Understanding the genetic basis to phenotype is fundamental to our understanding of disease, evolution, and who we are as a biological species. But how do gene actually produce phenotype? In this course we will study the mechanisms that link the genome to phenotype. Topics covered include, embryology, stem cells and cell fate, regeneration, developmental plasticity, and evolutionary developmental biology. Laboratories will highlight concepts and methods in molecular developmental biology using vertebrate and invertebrate models.
