ECE 452 Energy Conversion
This is an introductory course to the elements of electromechanical energy conversion devices with an overview of the application of Ampere’s and Faraday’s laws to electric machines and transformers along with the operational control of these electric machines under various steady-state load conditions. The course emphasis will be on (1) understanding and implementing induced torque and induced voltage in both motors and generators, (2) understanding the operation of simple linear machines, (3) understanding the purpose of a transformer in power system, (4) analysis of the sinusoidal steady-state operation and performance of three-phase motors and generators.
