ECON 239 Queer Economics

This course studies the unique economic challenges and opportunities faced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) individuals. The course leverages economic theory and data to understand how this population differs in their education, labor market choices, family formation, housing status, and other economic outcomes. In particular, we will study how discrimination, legislation, and judicial action jointly shape socioeconomic outcomes of this heterogeneous population.
