FYS 115 The Monkey King
This course invites students to embark on a journey across the Globe with the Monkey King. It explores, through four units, monkeys in Western literature and art; monkeys in Asian cultures; the story of the Monkey King and the classical novel Journey to the West; and translations and adaptations of the story in diverse media across cultures. The course will be conducted in English, with readings and videos provided in English translation or with subtitles.
