ENG 313 The Irish Literary Renaissance
This course examines poems, essays, plays, fiction, and folklore produced by Irish writers in the years 1880-1925. Particular attention is given to the ways in which the writings of Joyce, Yeats, O'Casey, Synge, and Lady Gregory are informed by such events as the Gaelic revival, the founding of the Abbey Theatre, Ireland's struggle for political independence from England, and the Irish Civil War.
