HIST 233 Creating a Nation: U.S. History, 1789-1826

This course examines the creation of an American political system and the development of American identity during the first few decades of the nation's history. Topics include the allocation of power among the President, Congress, the federal courts, and the states; the establishment of a national economy and a system for raising revenue; the defense of the country against foreign threats; the challenges of sectional and racial divisions; and the evolution of American nationalism.
