Africana Studies, A.B. Major

Requirements

The major consists of a minimum of 9 courses from at least two academic disciplines:

AFS 101	Ideas of Africa	1
AFS 102	Introduction to Africana Studies	1
AFS 211	The Black Experience	1
AFS 405	Advanced Seminar in Africana Studies	1
	Five upper-level electives

• Electives are chosen from an approved list.
• Honors: Students who meet College and major requirements may submit a written proposal for approval during their junior year or early part of their senior year for an honors thesis. Students pursuing honors will be allowed to substitute first-semester AFS 495 for AFS 405.
