Spanish Minor

Requirements

The minor consists of a minimum of four courses:

SPAN 211Advanced Spanish

Or

SPAN 215Spanish for Heritage Speakers

SPAN 300Voices of the Spanish-Speaking World

Two 300- or 400-level SPAN electives

Students are required to complete the language sequence up to and including Advanced Spanish 211 (or Spanish for Heritage Speakers 215) or demonstrate equivalent proficiency that would allow for advanced placement. Thereafter, minors are required to take SP 300 and two courses at the 300 or 400 level.


The minor will be updated to align with the recently-updated major requirements (effective with the class of 2027)

  • Current: The minor consists of a minimum of four courses, SPAN 211 or 215 and three Spanish electives with at least two courses from Foundations in Hispanophone Studies and at least one from Focused Themes of Inquiry or a 400-level seminar.
  • New: The minor consists of a minimum of four courses, SPAN 211 or 215, SPAN 300 and two Spanish electives at the 300- or 400-level.
