A&S 329 Migration

People crossing national borders have come to carry one or more of myriad names: refugee, migrant, immigrant, asylee and beyond. Meanwhile, scholars have elaborated theories of these and other categories, such as transnationalism and diaspora, to analyze global migration. In this course, we will discuss these conceptual categories and consider their continuities and differences as we apply them to specific cases of global mobility and use them to analyze experiences of migration historically and today.
