HIST 369 Seminar: Armed Conflict, Massacres and War Crimes: A Global History
What is war, in essence? This seminar explores this question through an analysis of high-profile massacres, atrocities, and cases of collateral damage committed by armed forces and irregular forces in the name of political objectives. Students interrogate distinctions made between massacres and lawful killing in war. The array of factors that result in massacres, atrocities, and collateral damage are considered, as are the consequences and legacies of these phenomena.
