GOVT 227 Latin American Politics

This course presents an overview of major themes in Latin American politics. It focuses on several key topics, including the effects of colonialism, early state- and nation-building projects, democratization, democratic breakdown, ethnic politics, crime, and corruption. The course employs various theoretical approached to explain broad regional patterns as well as important cross-national differences.
